This is a solid, well-executed in vitro study demonstrating that ascorbic-acid derived CDs paired with PF14 CPPs form polyplexes that substantially improve transfection of both plasmid and SCO cargo in cell lines, with inhibitor data pointing to SCARA-mediated uptake; however the mechanistic claim is incomplete (inhibitor-only), data are in vitro-only, and reproducibility would benefit from raw-data deposition and orthogonal pathway tests. The work sits appropriately within an active literature showing engineered CDs can be outstanding nonviral carriers in vitro .
